Game overview
This is a Cooperative mod of the award winning game Half-Life 2. This mod provides
multiple game modes to suit players of all ability levels and styles of play. After many years of experience, playing as many coop games as possible (because we love them), we found
that the greatest game-play flaw in coop gaming was the fact that players have no
motivation to stay alive as when they die they can simply re-spawn and continue with no penalty, so we addressed this issue with some new innovative ideas which we believe will be well received and give many hours of gaming fun to all the Half-Life community. We will also release the resources that level designers need to add their own maps to be played in any of our game modes. |

Features
Game feature 1 Smooth Gameplay
Half life 2 was designed as a single player game and just making it work in multiplayer
doesn’t give a smooth game experience, We hope to make modes of play which can be as good for a group to play as the original Half-Life is to play in single player. To achieve this we have edited every single map in the game to make it work smoothly in the cooperative game and preserve the great story and game-play of the original single player game. We have also edited many of the game entities to suit our new game modes
Game Feature 2 Elimination Mode
When Elimination Mode is on, if a player dies he joins the spectators and must wait for the other players to complete the level or if all players are eliminated they must start from beginning of the level.
Game Feature 3 Credits
Players can earn extra lives which can be used to re-spawn the player where they died.
Game Feature 4 Points System
Players can earn points from killing NPC's and completing the objectives. This brings a competitive edge to the gameplay - and begs the question, 'Who is the best at Half-Life 2'?
Game Feature 5 Multiplayer vehicle system
Multiple players can utilise all the vehicles in the game. All vehicles can be identified by the name of the player driving it - and all will be targeted by NPC's! Vehicles are created and destroyed on the fly to handle players joining servers at any time. Our vehicle code also allows third-party mappers to easily make Co-operative multiplayer levels using vehicles and their associated weapons.
Game Feature 6 Multiplayer Save/Restore
Players are able to go from one level to the next with their game information intact. Stats such as points, individual NPC kills, health, and - of course - weapons and ammo are stored at the end of each level, to be restored at the beginning of the next.
Game Feature 7 Multiplayer Ready-room
Follow Freeman has a ready-room where players can go to prepare for the game, vote for which chapter they want to play and adjust the settings and modes of game-play with a unique in-game configuration system. This area could easily be extended to give smooth access to other episodes of half-life and even third party single player mods which can now be played in coop through our mod.
Game Feature 8 Dynamic Spawn points
Spawning of players has been updated so that each player arrives at a unique spawn point, making 'spawn-frags' a thing of the past.
Game Feature 9 In-game Player info
The in-game HUD includes player information - game mode, ranking, points, lives and a multi-use timer. The HUD also displays every kill whether made by a player or an NPC.
Game Feature 10 Synchronised Gameplay
In order that players not miss any gameplay, and for a racing start to the level, the server notes how many players are in your team and when the new map starts, players are frozen until all connecting players are active and ready for the start of the mission. At the end of a level, when the 1st player touches the changelevel, the end level countdown is begun - all players must then rush to complete the level before the countdown is over to receive bonus points. The lengths of these timers are adjustable via console variables.
Game Feature 11 NPC actions
All NPC's will interact with any of the players, or whichever player is closest to the action. Scripted elements from the game have all been edited to work in a Co-Operative multiplayer environment.

New game modes
We have designed some great new game-play modes to add to the experience and give excellent replay value. We feel these modes will also provide a platform for the different styles and abilities of online gamers so servers can configure their games to the type of play they enjoy most.
Game Mode 1 > Follow Freeman Cooperative
This is our version of traditional coop play where players are encouraged to help each other complete the levels and enjoy the story. When players die they are eliminated and forced to Spectate until their team has completed the level or all players have been eliminated. If so they must start the level again. Deaths affect overall team scoring, so it is in every ones interest to keep all their team members alive and not abandon them. Bonus points are awarded to all those who complete the level. The overall objective is to attain the highest team score possible, which can be placed on a World High Score table. This mode is designed to reward players for playing truly cooperatively and lets them enjoy the action and scenes of the entire Half-Life 2 game with game-play suitable for beginners and experienced players.
Game Mode 2 > Follow Freeman racing
This mode pits the players against each other and the combine in a kill fest race, where the players race to get to the end of the level, killing as many NPC's as possible. The winner gets a big bonus for completing the level in 1st place. This mode adds great replay value and a completely new style of game-play which the more experienced “LEET” players will love, as it opens new strategies and problems for the players to master. An example of this is how a player may choose not to kill oncoming zombies and simply dodge through them so they remain to block following players, a dangerous tactic requiring great skill. The overall objective is to attain the highest individual score for the Chapter, while ensuring that no one else comes close! Friendly-fire is on, so players can gang-up on NPC's when required, and then shoot their team mates in the back when the time comes.
Game Mode 3 > Combine Assassin
This mode brings a new fusion of team-play and coop play. In this mode for each 3 rebels one player will be able to join the combine assassin team. The Combine Assassin is a player character who opposes the rebel team by trying to assassinate the rebel players. The Assassin is a stealthy tactical character using hit and run and timing attacks with other npc combine attacks for maximum effectiveness. So as well fighting the in-game monsters the rebels will need to get past the assassin to complete the level. This mode is suitable for all levels of players.
Game Mode 4 > Championship Mode
Championship Mode is for when players wish to attempt a high score. Scores are automatically collected, and are presented live on the web in the Dynamic World League Tables. In this mode players must compete with a set team and fixed game settings, with players accumulating as many points along the way. At the end of each chapter your progress is recorded and posted to the World League Tables. So who will be the best at Half-Life 2? |
